Our mission is to grow the game.
Lacrosse is non-traditional sport that many kids don’t have the opportunity to pick up until high school or middle school- if they’re lucky. The simple opportunity to pick up a Lacrosse stick and just play around in elementary school is quite rare and pays off in the long run BIG time for those who fall in love with the sport. College playing opportunities double, impact as a high school athlete becomes significant, and desire to give back increases tenfold.
What is lacrosse?
Lacrosse is a sport that can be a little intimidating. Many people have never heard of it or seen it played. It's not a sport like soccer or softball that has everyone playing at age 5. Most people don't know where to start looking if their son or daughter comes home and says they'd like to try lacrosse. Here are a few facts about lacrosse:
It's the fastest growing sport in the world. New national teams, college teams, and high school teams pop up at a rate that far surpasses any other sport.
Girls and boys lacrosse differ significantly. Girls' Lacrosse is a non contact sport. Girl's lacrosse is a game of finesse that has very strict contact rules. Boys' Lacrosse is full contact and requires padding and helmets. The sticks and rules are quite different.
Lacrosse is a sport that originated with Native Americans. Tribes had many different versions of the game that were played as a form of tribal warfare. It's known as the Creator's Game.
It's a relatively easy sport, just not at first. The fundamentals of lacrosse don't require difficult movements but they do require some movements that are completely unique. Once these movements become innate, the learning curve moves exponentially. Those who work through the initial stages tend to improve very quickly.
